Additional RCA DTA800 Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Information

The RCA DTA800 Digital to Analog TV converter plays an important role in the completion of the digital TV transition. Designed to easily receive over-the-air ATSC standard-definition and high-definition terrestrial broadcasts, the DTA800 comes equipped with a remote control unit and the ability to provide on-screen program information sent by local TV broadcasters to easily identify details about TV programming. The DTA800 is designed solely to receive digital TV signals with an over-the-air antenna and converts those signals into analog for display through a TV set's analog connections.

What Customers Say About RCA DTA800 Digital to Analog TV Converter Box:

Do they not have a quality control department. Turns on, but will not tune. This has got to be the biggest piece of junk and waste of manufacturing known to man. Ok RCA, you got me for a few bucks, but I'll be damned if I buy a LCD from you or anything else regardless of the price.

It just quit working. If I could give this product (and RCA in general) zero stars, I would. If they can't make this $40 device work, how do they figure they can compete with Vizio and Sanyo much less Sony, Mitsubishi, or Samsung. Way to go RCA. You can see from all the negative comments this was a worthless piece of junk.

Their QC must have known they die after 2.5 - 3 months and only warrantied them for that long. Sad to say, but this will be more Americans out of jobs because this company can't compete on the global playing field. This thing died after 2.5 months. Last thing on my mind is that the US Government issued certificates (basically subsidized the purchase of these devices). I recall growing up and my parents trying to stay American: RCA, Zenith, etc.

I will never buy another RCA device so long as I live. So in essence, they ripped off the government.

I am going to be purchasing a different brand of converter box, or maybe just getting cable - this was a waste of my time and money. codes, and still nothing (but original remote to the t.v.

This thing is rediculous, one day one channel works, the next it doesn't. I have had my RCA digital converter box for about a year now.

Today, my remote suddenly quit "talking" to my t.v., entered all of the Emerson T.V. The reception is terrible (rainbow colored lines all over the place on some channels), and it's always skipping like a scratched cd.

Good old rabbit ears are better than this plastic piece of junk. works just fine).

The "digital trasition" was a waste of everyone's time and money really, what a rip off.

Now the power comes on just fine, but no picture. They worked ok for the first couple months. I purchased two boxes using my government coupons. No anything for that matter. There were times when the box would shut down for no apperant reason only to magically come back on by it's self. After that it would scroll through all the channels you have programed in and land on which ever one you didn't want. DO NOT buy this box, and if you ask me the whole DTV thing is a big scam. Save your money and get cable or satillite.

Seems like they knew this box would not get the job done. bought this box on 7/1/2008. The station in question is only 5.9 mi. Could'nt have known then that on 2/17/2009 that I still would not be able to catch all station. They came out with an upgrade DTA800B1 a little while after and it does pick up all available signals. from me with 2 other antennas in the same vicinity. RCA also will not back this item with a recall when i believe they know it does'nt work right.

This thing hasn't worked right since I bought it. Once you turn it off, it won't turn back on unless you un-plug & re-plug it back in. Ya, I bought it a while before the conversion date & tossed the box & reciept.and after you don't really get any stations you can go buy a USELESS digital antenna that dosen't even get 1 more station then my old rabbit ears.
